“Pick me up, guilt free, Chocolate, Banana, Blueberry, Walnut Smoothie”!
It was hot here on Saturday in Adelaide. I can feel the turn of the sun to that blistering heat of an Adelaide Summer and I am not liking it. I am not a hot weather person. Added to that, I had a bad night with my type 1 diabetes the night before resulting in having to cancel my planned outing which I was really looking forward to!
Instead I spent some time with my family and did various jobs around the house (and snuck in a garage sale!). I decided I needed a treat and thought I would whizz up a pick me up smoothie.
As I am a spontaneous person I just looked at what I had that might make a yummy smoothie for afternoon tea.
Here is what I came up with:
The “Pick me up, Guilt Free, Chocolate, Banana, Blueberry, Walnut Smoothie”!
Ingredients
1 banana
15 or so Blueberries
6 – 8 walnut halves
1 tub of diet chocolate mousse (I used the Nestle dark one)
3 dessert spoons of reduced fat greek or European natural Yoghurt
2 good dessert spoons of low fat ice cream (I used the Bulla one)
Skim milk to fill the container (about a cup I would say)
Method
- Chop the banana into pieces and throw into the container
- Throw in the rest!
- Blend until smooth
- Enjoy!
Verdict – I loved it, it was refreshing, with a nice blend of flavours, chocolate and banana being the dominant flavours but was a guilt free treat with the low fat and sugar products being used in the mix and adds a punch to your nutrients for the day with addition of blueberries and walnuts.

Sounds delicious!! I’m going to try that recipe, thanks so much for sharing 🙂
I usually do banana, yoghurt and milk but it’s far too bland!
