But I am…
I was diagnosed 3 years ago with Type 2 Diabetes after my sister was seriously ill and was found to be a Diabetic with Type 2. I got tested as I am 4 years older than her and diabetes runs in both parents grandparents on both sides of our family.I was shocked to find that I had it too. Not as bad as my sister but there all the same.
I have spent the last couple of years hoping that it was a wrong diagnosis and that I really wasnt a diabetic. Amazing how we can fool ourselves and run from the truth. A few months ago I got sick and couldn’t shake the flu. I also felt tired and depressed all the time. I did a home blood sugar test and it was 16 mmol. Time to wake up and stop pretending. I am a diabetic and have since been put on to tablets to control my sugar. They are working and now I need to loose weight too. I have started to walk everyday instead of sitting around at lunchtime. I have dropped a day at work to have some me time and joined the latest weight matters group here at Diabetes Counselling Online.
Please don’t do what I did and ignore it or hope it will go away. Be positive and look for ways to help control diabetes before it controls you
.Life is just too short.
