All so confusing
My name is Nene and have only recently been diagnosed as Diabetic type 2, although I was borderline for four years before I tipped over. I am waiting to see my Diabetes Educator next Tuesday. It makes it that little bit harder to understand the big D, when appointments with my Care Plan givers take so long to get. Thankfully, some of my questions have been solved by reading through the Q and A sections.
My GP has asked that I take readings 5 times daily but I must admit, sometimes I forget till it’s nearly time to take another reading. I seem to be all over the place from 16 down to 7.4. My weekly average is 10.9, so maybe it takes a while for the Diaformin to get into my system.
I have noticed I get a dreadful thirst, making swallowing nearly impossible and when I take a reading it’s in the 7s. I also get a terrible taste in my mouth at this time. I have been then having a manderine and a BIG glass of water to settle it down.
I am managing to get my weight down, but it is a slow process. I was 102kg when diagnosed and am now down to 97 but still have a long way to go. Exercising is hard for me as I am riddled with arthritis – but slow and steady wins the race. This site is a lifesaver for me and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of it. Nene :o)
