An interesting ride time and time again!
We are entering into the world of blogging here as another way to reach out to the many thousands of people living with diabetes. As a web based counselling service we hear stories from people every day that reflect our own personal journeys. All of our counsellors have diabetes themselves and yes, we all have our up and down days! No matter who you are or how long you have lived with diabetes – it can bite you! Starting in 2001 before blogging was a thing, it is time to add this to our site.
Just yesterday I woke up with a BGL of 17 mmol and spent the day chasing down the high 20’s with no reason….it can be easy to get into a downward sprial when these days come along. One thing I have learnt over the years is that the way you approach problems can really diminish them in your life. So instead of getting too stressed about this high level, see it as a number to tackle and then work out how to rectify the situation.
We all have problems, that makes us human! Connecting with other people really helps us to feel less lost in these problems and to come out on top. Make sure you talk to people and remind them that diabetes may go into the background for them after a while, but for those of us living with it – it has an every day presence in our lives, for the rest of our lives. Developing a relationship that you can manage with diabetes is therefore very important – after all we would seek counselling for a marriage problem, so why not for one with our diabetes.
Join us for all the ups and downs of diabetes.
Helen
your remark about there being no forgetting and no days without diabetes resonated with me.
